Artistic Director Diane Bailey began her career acting and directing in regional theatre companies such as Theatre of N.O.T.E., West Coast Theatre Ensemble,and The Odyssey Theatre in Los Angeles as well as acting in episodic television and films. Her most memorable experience in film was working on Frances at the Zoetrope Studios. Diane became the Artistic Director for Sonoma County Repertory Theatre and was immersed in the exciting creation of co-producing seventy-eight productions, directing twenty plays and acting in ten in the course of 10 years. As a director, favorites include “Crimes of the Heart”, “A Shanya Maidel”, "Picasso at The Lapin Agile”, and “Repertory” which was named 'Best New Play' of 1999 by the Press Democrat. As an actor, favorite roles were Frankie in “Frankie and Johnny in the Claire de Lune”, Amanda in “The Glass Menagerie” and Sarah Jane Moore in “Assassins.” In the last few years, Diane has co-created and directed the original six episodes of the educational television series,” Don’t Throw That Away” for PBS. Diane created Theatre Anew in March of 2010 with the inaugural production of "Sweet Bird of Youth". Diane is inspired by this new hybrid of live theater and committed to it flourishing!
